Bees Wrap VS Trader Joe’s Waxed Cotton Wraps – Which is better? You guys asked for a side by side comparison, so here it is!
But first, why would you want to use waxed cotton? It’s a replacement for plastic wrap when storing your food in the fridge. It can be reused indefinitely (if you take care of it). So, you’re keeping plastic out of landfills. You’re also keeping plastic off of your food. Plastic wrap is full of endocrine disrupting chemicals, and I don’t know about you, but I’m going to pass on that. Bees Wrap THE GOOD – I’ve used Bees Wrap for a year or so and have loved it from the start. It’s thin and malleable, which makes it easy to wrap fruits and veggies. It’s also made in the good ol' U.S. of A. (Vermont to be exact), which is a big plus in my book. THE NOT SO GOOD – This stuff isn’t cheap! It’s $18 for a pack of 3 assorted sizes on the manufacturer site, so it’s definitely an investment. Trader Joes Waxed Cotton Wraps THE GOOD – They seem to be good quality! They’re thick and sturdy, which makes me think they will hold up really well (I’ve had them for a couple of months at this point). Plus, at $8 for a 3-pack, they’re a great deal! I may or may not have bought 3 packs… THE NOT SO GOOD – Because these wraps are thicker they aren’t quite as malleable, so they don’t wrap as easily around small fruits and veggies, but they’re great for the tops of bowls and containers. Unlike the Bees Wrap, these wraps aren’t made in the USA, they’re made in Tunisia. So, if that’s important to you, that may be a deal breaker. THE TAKEAWAY All in all they’re both good products and a much better choice for the environment and your health than traditional plastic wrap. The biggest decision maker in this case would probably be budget. If the Bees Wrap is in your budget, it’s a great product and you’re supporting an American company. If that’s a little out of budget, I’d say the Trader Joe’s wraps are a great option, and you won’t be missing out on a whole lot. What are your thoughts? Have you tried either? Xoxo Rebecca
